Chief Technology Officer for

Cameron Ower is the Chief Technology Officer for MDA’s Robotics and Automation business, responsible for strategic research and development and intellectual property management. His focus is on the identification and development of enabling robotic technologies for challenging environments including satellite servicing, planetary exploration, police first response, medical robotics and industrial automation. This current role also involves extensive university/industry research partnerships and collaboration.  Mr. Ower has been with MDA for over 25 years, holding increasingly senior technical leadership roles including control systems design lead for the Canadarm 2 and Dextre, Director of Systems Engineering and Director of Research and Development.  He has Bachelor and Master of Applied Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto and a Doctorate in Aerospace Engineering from Carleton University.  Mr. Ower is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies (UTIAS) and serves on industry advisory boards at the University of Toronto’s Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and UTIAS.
