Professor Nadeau holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering (1992, specialised in production) from École Polytechnique de Montréal. She also holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering (2001, specialised in human factor engineering) from the same institution. She is now full professor at École de technologie supérieure in Montreal.
Since 2005, Professor Nadeau has directed the occupational safety research group at ÉTS (ÉREST-ÉTS). The largest research unit in North America in this sector, ÉREST obtained institutional accreditation in 2009 and continues to grow. This grouping of 17 researchers regularly obtains financing of $5,1–8,2 million per year and sees to the training of more than 70 highly qualified persons per year. ÉREST participated in the 2009–2012 action plan of the World Health Organisation and has been granted the prestigious Antoine Aumont prize in 2015 for its remarkable contribution to OHS.
From 2005 to 2009, Professor Nadeau was assistant director, interim director and finally director of the Quebec occupational health and safety research network (RRSSTQ). She has been co-chair of the “Improved Human Health” strategic theme of the NSERC Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation “Ultra-Deep Mining Network” from 2014 to 2016. She is active in several ergonomics societies (Iceland, UK, Germany, Australia, Canada), is co-chair of the large scale mining sub-committee of the International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH) Scientific Committee Mining Occupational Safety and Health (MinOSH) and has been co-director of a technical sub-committee of the “Human Factors and Sustainable Development” technical committee of the International Ergonomics Association (IEA) since 2009.
